Privacy Policy
We collect the information needed to deliver and improve the publication, manage subscriptions, protect paid content, and provide support. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
1. Scope and operator
This Privacy Policy describes how Pierce Ventures, LLC, doing business as The Signal Ledger (“The Signal Ledger,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles personal information through our website, beta program, email publication, paid subscriptions, support channels, and related services.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Contact information: name and email address.
- Beta research: investor-experience selection, what you want from the beta, access preference, and how you heard about us.
- Subscription information: selected plan, subscription status, consent records, and customer-support requests.
- Communications: feedback, corrections, questions, privacy requests, and other messages you send.
Beta research helps us evaluate the publication in aggregate. It is not used to tailor investment recommendations to you.
Information collected through providers
- Payments: Stripe processes payment credentials. We may receive a customer identifier, payment status, invoice information, card brand and last four digits, billing contact details, refunds, disputes, and subscription events. We do not store full card numbers.
- Email delivery: our email provider may record delivery, bounce, complaint, unsubscribe, open, and link-interaction information.
- Website and forms: hosting and form providers may process IP address, device or browser information, timestamps, requested pages, referral information, security signals, and form submissions.
Subscriber access markers
Paid content may contain a subscriber email address, subscriber ID, or another access marker. We use these markers to administer subscriptions, investigate unauthorized redistribution, and protect the publication.
3. Information we ask you not to send
Do not send us brokerage credentials, account balances, government identification numbers, tax identifiers, full payment-card data, health information, or other sensitive information that we have not specifically requested. Stripe handles any identity or payment verification it requires under its own privacy practices.
4. How we use information
- Provide beta access, paid access, email delivery, and customer support.
- Process payments, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and accounting records.
- Send service messages, reports requested by subscribers, and legally required notices.
- Understand referral sources, readership needs, product quality, and aggregate engagement.
- Prevent fraud, spam, account sharing, unauthorized redistribution, and security incidents.
- Comply with law, enforce agreements, and establish or defend legal claims.
5. How we disclose information
We disclose information only as reasonably needed for the purposes above:
- Service providers: website hosting and forms, email delivery, payment processing, cloud or local storage, security, accounting, and professional advisers.
- Legal and safety: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or security issues, or respond to lawful process.
- Business transaction: as part of a merger, financing, asset transfer, reorganization, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
- At your direction: when you ask us to share information or clearly consent to a specific disclosure.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising, and we do not use personal information for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
6. Email choices
You may unsubscribe using the link or instructions in an email, or by contacting signalledgerreport@gmail.com. We may retain a limited suppression record so we do not accidentally re-enroll an unsubscribed address. Transactional messages about a current subscription, billing, security, or a requested support action may still be sent when necessary.
7. Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on where you live and whether an applicable privacy law covers our processing, you may have rights to confirm processing; access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information; limit certain processing; opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or qualifying profiling; and appeal a denied request.
We do not currently sell data, conduct targeted advertising, or use qualifying solely automated profiling. You may still ask us to access, correct, or delete information by emailing signalledgerreport@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request.” If we deny a request, you may reply with the subject “Privacy appeal.”
We may verify your request using information already associated with your subscription or prior communications. We will not require you to create a new account solely to submit a request. We may retain information when reasonably necessary to provide the Service, prevent fraud, maintain an unsubscribe record, comply with law, or establish or defend legal claims.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including maintaining an active subscription, honoring an unsubscribe, providing support, protecting content, keeping tax and accounting records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and context.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we maintain. No system or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access involving the Service.
10. Cookies and similar technology
The current site does not use advertising cookies or targeted-advertising technology. Our hosting, security, forms, payment, and email providers may use cookies, pixels, logs, or similar technology to operate their services, prevent fraud, remember a session, and measure delivery or engagement. Third-party links are governed by the third party's privacy practices.
11. Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as our practices or legal obligations change. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice when a change is material.
